Thank you for taking part in the 2025 survey of Rookeries in Shropshire.
During February & March. rooks return to colonies full-time and progress through nest building and laying, later with the first hatchings. It is important to record this confirmation of activity but the actual nest counting will be done in Phase 3 when numbers have stabilised.
Please report sightings of the socialising, a promising sign of occupancy in 2025, either an Existing Site, or what appears to be a New Site.
The aim of Phase 2 is to ensure all White, Grey and Yellow Pins are either promoted to Orange (an active site) or Black Pins (confirmed dead).

The markers pinpoint the location of known rookeries, as indicated by the Coloured Pins in the key above.
To examine the map in greater detail, press the ALT key[CMD key on Mac) and scroll to move around and zoom in and out.
Click on the Coloured Pins to access site details.
START by selecting an option below for Existing Site with Signs of Activity, or New Site.
If you are reporting an Existing Site, click on its marker on the map and follow the instructions.
If you are reporting a New Site, click on its position on the map, indicated by the point of the Purple Balloon. You may do this more than once to refine its position then follow the instructions.
Either way, please complete all the details in the form and submit it.
Reminder requests will be sent to site recorders at the start of the next Phase, requesting an update.
